Paid Participation Policy

Paying mental health consumers who are involved in our policy development and research is an important way to recognise the dignity and value of consumer experience and to promote inclusion. Our policy includes ethical considerations, types of paid participation activities, and payment rates. Read our Paid Participation Policy here.

Creating Inclusive Spaces

The Alliance encourages policy makers and service providers to engage and collaborate with people with lived experience of mental health challenges in focus groups, research activities, committees and other consultative bodies, and other forms of involvement. These guidelines will assist organisations seeking to work directly with people with lived experience of mental health challenges through the Alliance. Read out policy here.

Co-creation

The Alliance has created six key principles for co-creation on a national scale. These principles will realise the commitments made by governments to ‘co-design’ the next National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement, and a new national psychosocial support scheme. If these projects are completed in alignment with these principles of consumer-led co-creation in mental health reform, it will ensure that Australia has an effective, reliable, consistent and equitable mental health and suicide prevention system that addresses unmet needs, improves mental health outcomes, and upholds the human rights of mental health consumers. Read our co-creation policy here.
